Is Fishing Just Luck?

Youth Fishing Day Talk by Prof. Dr. Robert Arlinghaus (Talk in German)

On May 17th, 2025, the first Children and Youth Fishing Day will take place at the Havelpromenade in Oranienburg, Germany — a hands-on event introducing young people to the excitement of recreational angling.

A special highlight: Prof. Dr. Robert Arlinghaus, renowned fisheries scientist at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) and Humboldt University Berlin, will give an interactive talk titled "Is Fishing Just Luck?" (in German). He’ll explore whether success in angling really comes down to chance — or if knowledge, skill, and strategy play a bigger role.
