On 17 January 2026, the Salon Sophie Charlotte will take place at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Berlin. Under the theme “Konflikte lösen!” (“Resolving Conflicts”), the event brings together scholars from a wide range of disciplines to explore how conflicts arise and how they can be addressed — from interpersonal disputes to societal and environmental challenges.
Researchers from the IFishMan group will contribute scientific perspectives to the event. Among them, Robert Arlinghaus will address conflicts related to the use, governance, and conservation of aquatic ecosystems. In fisheries and aquatic resource management, conflicts frequently emerge between objectives such as biodiversity conservation, food production, and recreational use. IFishMan’s research highlights how evidence-based and interdisciplinary approaches can help navigate these trade-offs and support more sustainable and socially accepted management strategies.
