IFishMan Workshop 2026 in Siggen, Germany

News article

From May, 4-8 researchers from across Europe and North America gathered at the Alfred Toepfer Foundation seminar centre in Ostholstein for the 2nd International IFishMan Workshop. And it turned out to be a truly inspiring few days.

The workshop focused on current topics and future perspectives in recreational fisheries research, ranging from management and ecology to human dimensions, catch-and-release, and fisheries-induced evolution. Beyond the presentations, it was especially the lively discussions, interdisciplinary exchange, and many new ideas that made the workshop so valuable.

Outside the formal programme, there was plenty of time to connect. During walks along the Baltic coast, relaxed conversations and of course some fishing together. These moments created a great atmosphere that was open, friendly, and highly engaging.

A big thank you to everyone involved for the inspiring contributions, great discussions, and the wonderful time together. We’re already looking forward to continuing our collaborations!
